Fume-Partout Cigarette Box

Independent creativity project hosted by the french jewelry designer Virginie Parent for our last year at the Haute École de Joaillerie in Paris. The inspiration point should be the universe of Van Cleef & Arpels to create a bejeweled cigarette case. My project takes then inspiration from the iconic creation of Van Cleef & Arpels called "Passe-Partout", which has a long history in the world of jewelry.

The second inspiration for the cigarette box is the Pop Art movement, which emerged in the 1950s and was inspired by mass consumption culture, advertising images, and popular media such as comics and music.

From the "Passe-partout" jewelry motif emerged the curvy form and style of the cigarette box, since wanted it to feel bulky and inflated. From the Pop Art movement, came the desire to represent a big symbol of mass consumption and playfulness: Gummy Bears but with a twist.

Hand-made sketches. The name of the box, thought to be "le Fume-Partout" makes direct connection with the brands inspirational piece while also adding playfulness to the creation.

Finished piece and photoshop try-out, that converses with Pop Art colorful universe and recent Barbie movie.

Study made at the third year of Jewelry Design at the Haute École de Joaillerie in Paris.
