Bramble Sollitaire
Independent creativity project hosted by the french jewelry designer Frédéric Mané for our last year at the Haute École de Joaillerie. The inspiration point should be the universe of a chosen brand to create an engagement ring. The choice to interpret David Webb's designs came for the admiration for his playfulness in contrasts, different stones and metal work, besides the true respect for traditional cultures and ancestral art.

Pieces by David Webb: looking for motifs and symbolism in his work.

Since the first sketches came the desire to use Mokume Gane, a metalsmithing technique that involves bonding layers of metal into a single piece. This traditional art first appeared in 1600's Japan and also adds up to David Webb's core vision of respect for ancestral knowledge.

The heart-shaped prong comes with an open motif that symbolises the relationship itself, each party entering with an open heart and, in this case, hugging the round diamond.
